A revolutionary furniture designer, Jean Prouvé at only 23 years of age opened up his first of many workshops and studios. He specialised in wrought iron lamps, chandeliers and began designing furniture. Seven years after his first workshop he helped establish the Union of Modern Artists, whose manifesto read, "We like logic, balance and purity". A theme easily seen throughout his chairs, tables and furniture to this day.
With his metal working background, it is no surprise that his furniture and chair designs would feature metal elements. His Standard Chair was designed in 1934 and design remains utilised in many restaurants, cafe's and other uses to this day. The metal frame has been crafted from a strong and sturdy steel frame with a powdercoated finish to prevent rust. The moulded plywood seat increases structural integrity and increased balance in the seat and back. It also comes with an American Oak veneer finish on the seat and back.
