In this blog update we pay homage to an iconic Australian designer, Grant Featherston. Grant was born in 1922 and born in Geelong, Victoria. From early on, he had an interest in design and lighting. He was self taught and initially designed lighting and various glass panels before having to serve in the army in 1940. Returning to Melbourne in 1944, it was then that he produced his famous plywood shell Contour Chairs in 1951.

A Mid-Century Exhibition touring some Australian museums back in 2014 had some early sketches from Grant Featherston himself. Below are some examples
